Raptor Award Assessment

15/02/18 –

Do you want to attend a falconry course? The Willows Bird of Prey Centre offer a Raptor Award assessment, that will teach you about birds of prey and how to keep them in safe and healthy conditions. The centre is a great day out for families, schools and birds of prey enthusiasts, as we have a range of experiences to choose from. The Willows Bird of Prey Centre is situated in the beautiful Kent countryside, and has a six-acre nature trail.

Willows Bird of Prey Centre is very passionate about birds of prey, and we like to spread this passion in our experiences and days out. With our falconry courses you will have the chance to handle and fly various birds, in the safe and surrounded land.

One of the most popular days out we provide is the Beginner Falconry Course, that is also known as the Raptor Award assessment. The Beginner Falconry Course takes place over a four-day period, and will teach you about the birds of prey, and their species, care, management and handling. This course is great for those new to falconry, as well as those who want to expand their knowledge and skills, and receive a recognised award.

Once you have finished the Beginner Falconry Course, you will be handed the nationally recognised Raptor Award. This will show that you have beginner’s knowledge on the birds of prey, and how to keep them in healthy conditions.

When you book the Raptor Award assessment you will also be allowed entry into the Willow’s nature trail. The six-acre trail is a woodland setting that’s surrounded with wildlife and birds, ranging from goats and chickens to wallabies, raccoons and sheep. Entry into the Nature Trail will also give you access to the demonstrations that take place.
